AI True Score and Otterly.AI both answer the same worried question, “is AI recommending my business, or my competitor?”, but they’re built for two different people. Otterly is a monthly dashboard you watch. AI True Score is a one-time report that tells you what to do. Which one fits depends on whether you want to monitor a trend or get an answer and a fix plan.
Disclosure: AI True Score is our product. We’ll say plainly when Otterly is the better buy. And before you buy either, you can check whether ChatGPT recommends your business by hand, free, in about ten minutes.
How do AI True Score and Otterly compare?

What is Otterly.AI, and who is it for?
Otterly.AI is a monitoring dashboard: you pay monthly to track whether AI answers mention your brand. Its Lite plan is $29 a month and tracks 15 prompts (the questions it asks AI for you) every day, with share of voice, sentiment and on-page recommendations (Otterly pricing, checked September 2026). Bigger plans track more prompts.
The key word is dashboard. It’s useful if someone will open it. If you’re a marketer, or you have one, and watching AI mentions week over week is part of the job, Otterly is a good, affordable choice, and for that job it’s a better fit than we are.
What is AI True Score, and who is it for?
AI True Score is a report, not a dashboard. The free AI True Score Glimpse asks AI real buyer questions and shows whether it names you, who it names instead, and your first fix. The paid AI True Score Full Report asks the questions your buyers ask, on every engine in our report, shows who each one names, runs the checks in our report on your site, and hands you the fixes in order. Questions about it? Reply to the report email and a person answers.
Every report includes one free follow-up check, and you get an email saying what changed. After that, ongoing monitoring is there if you want it. It’s built for the owner who also answers the phone and runs the crew, and who is never going to log into a dashboard every week.
Which one should I choose?
Choose by what you’ll actually do next.
- Otterly is built to watch. It shines when you want a continuous, updating view and you’ll use it. For a busy owner, a dashboard you don’t open is money spent on nothing, and 15 prompts is a narrow window if you offer many services in many towns.
- AI True Score is built to fix. It shines when you want to know where you stand and what to change. If your job is to watch a trend line every day, a subscription dashboard fits you better.
These questions settle most of it:
- Will you log in every week? If yes, a dashboard like Otterly earns its keep. If “probably not,” a report you act on does more.
- Do you want a chart or a to-do list? Otterly gives you an ongoing chart of mentions. Our report gives you a plain-English list of what to change.
- How many services and towns do you cover? A tight, single-service business fits inside a small prompt allowance. Many services across several towns fill it fast, so count the questions your buyers ask before you pick a plan.
The fix: Write down the questions buyers ask you about each service in each town you cover, and count them. If the list is longer than the plan's prompt allowance, a small dashboard plan won't cover you; start with a report instead.
Neither tool can guarantee that AI will name you, and anyone promising a spot in the answer is selling you something. For the wider field, see our comparison of AI visibility tools.
